The Pancake Hut has been operating since 1979. It prides itself as a family-friendly diner that may not be a fancy spot, but the cooking is good. The Pancake Hut is located at 301 South Garrison Avenue in Carthage, Missouri.

One of the attractions is the Chicago Coins Band Box. This item is a registered trademark now owned by Brad Frank Restorations, Inc. in Chatsworth, California.

The Chicago Coin’s Band Box comes with a very small stage with a curved front and attached curtains. It's attached to a jukebox and when it comes on, the curtains open, and inside is a seven-piece band that moves as though it's playing the music.

The Pancake Hut is a small town operation that probably caters often to return customers.

Pancakes were very good. Overall great breakfast. Waitstaff very good. We would stop again for sure! The prices were fair and portions sizable. (Tripadvisor reviewer.)

Historic Route 66 intersects with Garrison Avenue in front of the diner if you have a passion for Route 66 history. If you visit Carthage, you'll come to learn that it sits on that historic highway along with other places of interest.

The Pancake Hut is the type of diner that employs waitresses who will make sure you have what you need, especially on coffee refills. Serving breakfast and brunch, it's open from 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Old diners like this one qualify as a mom-and-pop operation where you can get a meal like you're going to your grandmother's house for eats.

The menu features the Hut Special that's been served since 1979. It consists of two eggs, two pancakes, two bacon slices, and coffee for $5.99. Visit here for the menu. Everything on the menu is more than reasonably priced.

Ken and Delores Bogren who started the Route 66 Times website, which highway they started traveling in 2009, have been to the Pancake Hut and were returning customers. They have also documented other places in Carthage. This retired couple amazes me with how they celebrated Route 66.

    Can't get enough history.
