Tragic End for South Florida Hispanic Building Tycoon Sergio Pino

Fort Lauderdale, FL - In a shocking turn of events, prominent South Florida homebuilder Sergio Pino was found dead in his Coral Gables home on Tuesday morning. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Pino died from an apparent suicide.

    FBI Raids Precede Tragic Event
The tragic event followed a series of FBI raids on Pino's homes and offices. Federal agents in tactical gear descended on Pino's home at 142 Isla Dorada Boulevard and his Century Homebuilders Group headquarters at 1805 Ponce de Leon3. The raids were part of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Pino tried to harm his estranged wife, Tatiana Pino.

    Allegations and Investigations
The FBI had been investigating whether Pino hired one of his part-time employees to target his wife, Tatiana, shortly after she filed for divorce in 2022. Tatiana had accused her estranged husband of poisoning her. She began having unexplained health problems in 2019 that persisted until she moved out of their home in 2022.

In addition to the poisoning allegations, Tatiana accused her husband of a hit-and-run incident, which was caught on video on August 30, 2023. Surveillance video showed a Home Depot flatbed truck ramming into Tatiana's vehicle in front of her Pinecrest home before fleeing. The four men involved in the hit-and-run, including one man who worked for Sergio, reportedly pleaded not guilty.

    A Life Remembered
Sergio Pino, founder and president of Century Homebuilders Group and a major Republican donor, was also a former president of the Latin Builders Association and ex-vice chairman of U.S. Century Bank's board of directors1. His firm, Century Homebuilders, built more than 16,000 homes.

Pino's lawyer, Sam Rabin, confirmed Pino took his own life. "The level of law enforcement activity at his residence was unprecedented and unnecessary, especially since we had offered to surrender him should that have become necessary."
