    Tupelo Police Make Arrest after Elvis Mural Defaced

    A Felony Malicious Mischief arrest was made today after a local Elvis mural was defaced, according to a press release from the Tupleo Police Departmetn.

    On 07-02-24, a report was filed with the Tupelo Police Department in reference to Felony Malicious Mischief. The complainant stated that someone defaced an Elvis mural on the Reed’s building located at 131 West Main Street in Downtown Tupelo.

    According to the report, the mural was defaced multiple times by painting over and throwing paint on the mural. Each repair cost the business over $1,000.

    On 07-03-24, after further investigation by Tupelo PD, James E. Pickler Jr. a 39 year old male residing in Tupelo was arrested and charged with Felony Malicious Mischief.

    The same day Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Sumner ordered Pickler to be held on a $1,000 bond. This case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
