    Key Highlights:

    1. Flash Flood Warning: A Flash Flood Warning is currently in effect until 11:15 AM CDT for:

    • Southwestern Bossier Parish
    • Southern Caddo Parish
    • De Soto Parish
    • Western Red River Parish
    • Northwestern Sabine Parish in Louisiana
    • Central Shelby County
    • Southeastern Panola County in Texas

At 8:18 AM CDT, Doppler radar detected thunderstorms producing heavy rain across these areas, with 2 to 4 inches of rainfall already reported. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible, potentially leading to flash flooding in urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying areas. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and to remember that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

    2. Current and Upcoming Weather: The NWS forecasts scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across the entire region today and tonight. Heavy rainfall is particularly expected this morning and into the afternoon, with the most significant impacts likely in the southern half of Northeast Texas, Northern Louisiana, and far Southern Arkansas. The intensity of storms is expected to diminish later this afternoon but may increase again late tonight.

    3. Extended Outlook: Rain chances will continue through Sunday, with conditions expected to become less unsettled as the new work week begins. As rain chances decrease, temperatures will rise, with highs reaching the mid to upper 90s by mid to late next week. Combined with high humidity, heat indices could approach or exceed 105 degrees.

Precautions: Spotter activation may be needed due to the potential for flash flooding. The NWS advises the public to stay informed of the latest weather updates and to take necessary precautions to protect life and property.
