    Memphis, TN — July 29, 2024The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued an Excessive Heat Warning and a Heat Advisory for portions of East Arkansas and North Mississippi. The Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 AM today until 4 AM CDT Tuesday, with an Excessive Heat Warning set to follow from 5 AM to 9 PM CDT Tuesday.

    Today's conditions are expected to bring heat index values up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit, creating a high risk of heat-related illnesses. Tomorrow, the situation will intensify, with heat index values soaring to a potentially dangerous 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

    The affected areas include cities such as Jonesboro, Clarksdale, West Memphis, and Tunica. Residents are advised to take precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight, and spending time in air-conditioned environments. It is crucial to check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and those without access to cooling facilities.
