New owner of Aretha Franklin’s childhood home in Memphis on mission to preserve history
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The new owner of Aretha Franklin’s childhood home says her goal is to preserve the birthplace of the Queen of Soul. Anasa Troutman purchased the home last Friday at auction. She is the same person who purchased Clayborn Temple and said her goal is to make sure history does not fade away.

Blind Boys of Alabama and Blues Artist Bobby Rush collaborate on “99 ½ Won’t Do”
For the first time, gospel icons Blind Boys of Alabama and Blues Hall of Famer Bobby Rush have collaborated on a recording released today. This collaboration features the sacred soul classic “99 ½ Won’t Do” and aims to support the Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis, TN. Both artists have had legendary careers spanning six decades and recently won Grammy Awards in 2024. Joining them on the recording are Dom Flemons and the folk-rock band Dustbowl Revival.
