DULUTH, MN — The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. The forecast includes a mix of fog, thunderstorms, and hot temperatures, raising concerns for residents in the affected areas.

    Today's Weather Events

Early this morning, areas of fog are impacting visibility across parts of northwest Wisconsin and east-central Minnesota, with some locations experiencing visibility reduced to a half-mile or less. Motorists are advised to exercise caution.

Elevated thunderstorms currently over central Minnesota are expected to move into east-central Minnesota this morning, dissipating by mid-morning. However, there is a 20 to 40 percent chance that thunderstorms will redevelop this afternoon into the early evening. The storms are anticipated to occur mostly south of the Iron Range and could potentially become strong to severe. The main threats include wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail up to the size of quarters.

    Upcoming Weather Outlook

The weather pattern for the rest of the week includes daily chances of thunderstorms. Wednesday, in particular, poses a higher risk for severe weather, with potential for damaging winds and large hail. Additionally, Wednesday is forecasted to be hot and muggy, with heat index values expected to reach the upper 80s to low 90s.

    Safety and Preparedness

Residents are urged to stay updated on weather conditions and be prepared for sudden changes. Skywarn spotters may be needed today to report severe weather conditions. It's important to take precautions against the heat, such as staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

The public is advised to monitor local news and weather updates for the latest information and to follow any guidance issued by local authorities.
