Body of man found in Trinity River
FORT WORTH, Texas — The body of a white male was discovered floating in the Trinity River early Tuesday morning, authorities said. Central units were dispatched to the scene at N Main and N Commerce St at 7:14 a.m. on July 2, 2024. Homicide detectives have been notified, and the investigation is ongoing, according to a statement from the department.

The TCU Women’s Beach Volleyball team enjoyed a successful season—winning 29 matches, and losing only eight. The Horned Frogs finished the season ranked ninth in the Final AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll. The women’s squad won every contest at home (12-0) and completed the season with a 2-2 record away, and a 15-6 mark on a neutral court. Children’s Medical Center Sees Spike In Walking Pneumonia Cases
Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth is reporting a significant spike in cases of so-called “walking pneumonia.” Last week, 80 of almost 400 patients tested positive for mycoplasma pneumonia which is caused by a bacterial infection. That’s a positivity rate of 20 percent. There were no cases reported at this same time in 2023.
TCU picked 10th in Big 12 Preseason Media Poll
TCU is predicted to finish 10th in the Big 12 conference according to the preseason poll that was voted on by media representatives. Utah claimed first in the poll, receiving 20 first-place votes. Kansas State followed in second place with 19 first-place votes. Rounding out the top five is Oklahoma State (14 first-place votes), Kansas (5 first-place votes) and Arizona (3 first-place votes).
Randle returning as Fort Worth’s city auditor
Patrice Randle is returning as Fort Worth’s city auditor effective July 1. Randle was city auditor in Fort Worth from November 2013-December 2021, then resigned to launch a private business, Randle Consulting LLC. She returned to the City of Fort Worth in February 2024 as interim city auditor, where she directs performance and compliance audits, identifies process and internal deficiencies, makes recommendations that help mitigate risks, and reports current and emergency risks to City management and the Audit Committee, among other tasks.
Camp El Tesoro: A legacy of adventure and learning
Established in 1934, Camp El Tesoro celebrates 90 years of outdoor education and adventure for children in North Texas, with the highlight of the celebration camp weekend happening on September 27-29. The camp is operated by Camp Fire First Texas, a non-profit organization established in Fort Worth in 1914. Initially renting property on Lake Worth, the council sought to create a permanent camp home, leading them to purchase 90 acres on Decordova Bend in 1934 for $12 per acre.
