GirlTREK Hosts First National Membership Meeting: A Historic Celebration of Black Women's Health

On March 10th, GirlTREK, the renowned movement empowering Black women to prioritize their health and wellness, is set to host its inaugural national membership meeting. With over a million members worldwide, this event marks a significant milestone in the organization's journey towards collective impact and community empowerment. Broadcasting live from GirlTREK's headquarters in Washington DC and their new Southern headquarters in Montgomery, AL, co-founders Morgan Dixon and Vanessa Garrison will lead members and special guests in discussions about the organization's bold new vision and unveil a groundbreaking mobile app designed to unite the movement on a single platform.

The genesis of this national meeting traces back twelve years, a testament to the tireless dedication of thousands of Black women who have embraced the GirlTREK ethos. Rain or shine, before dawn or after dusk, these women have taken to the streets, inviting others to join them on a journey towards personal transformation and collective change. Now, as they stand on the cusp of a historic moment, they are poised to amplify their impact in Black communities across the nation.

Central to GirlTREK's mission is a deep reverence for the legacy of Harriet Tubman, the iconic freedom fighter whose bravery and resilience continue to inspire generations. Tubman Day, a national holiday commemorating her life, serves as the backdrop for this momentous occasion. Each year, GirlTREK honors Tubman's legacy with the #WeAreHarriet campaign, inviting women worldwide to walk in her honor and celebrate her life's work. As the movement enters its tenth year, this national membership meeting promises to be the largest Harriet House Party yet, uniting Black women from all walks of life in a shared commitment to health and empowerment.

Looking ahead, GirlTREK is gearing up for a transformative year, marked by ambitious initiatives aimed at addressing the systemic barriers to Black women's health and well-being.
