Dabo Swinney proving Clemson's demise has been greatly exaggerated as Tigers continue recruiting dominance

Dabo Swinney has come under significant criticism over the last couple years and perhaps more than ever now coming off a 9-4 season. The 9-win mark in 2023 was of course the worst record Clemson had finished with since before 2010. However, despite all the negative noise, Swinney and the Tigers just snagged yet another top tier four star stud on their defense over the weekend.

Bryce Davis, 4 star defensive lineman

Clemson landed Bryce Davis, a four star defensive lineman and edge defender from Greensboro, North Carolina this past weekend. He chose the Tigers over Georgia, South Carolina, and Duke. Davis becomes the fourth defensive front recruit rated inside the Top 100 recruits overall in the nation for the 2025 class for Clemson.

Bryce Davis almost racked up 100 tackles and a dozen sacks in one season when he was still a sophomore, but missed most of last year with an injury. If he's as dominant as he was two seasons ago this fall it's likely he rises into fringe five star status.

    Clemson's stacked 2025 recruiting class

Now that Clemson has added another Top 100 recruit they're up to 10 four and five star commits among the 14 current players set to join the Tigers in the 2025 class. And while 14 total commits is fewer than some of the other "blue blood" schools have thus far in this cycle it's still good for a top ten overall class.

More importantly, they rank sixth in average recruit rating, meaning the typical player currently committed is better than all but five schools in the nation. And it's not like they're just stacking players at inconsequential positions or only skill talent. They already have seven trench players committed across both sides of the ball, continuing to build the kind of roster than can face off against the best of the best in the country.

While it would be nice if Clemson actually started taking some transfers, they continue to kill it on the recruiting trail on levels the program never saw before Dabo Swinney became the head coach. 2024 will be a critical year as quarterback Cade Klubnik has largely underwhelmed thus far, but it's clear the coaching staff is still building monstrous rosters every single year.
