Former Broncos draft pick making his case for Chiefs' 53-man roster at training camp

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of those teams that are always willing to take a training camp flier on a guy who was maybe counted out by his former team.

Maybe he was a drafted rookie and the former team just moved to a new regime -- the Chiefs will try him out if the potential is there, even if he played for the Denver Broncos before that.

The Denver Broncos drafted Montrell Washington in the 2022 NFL Draft, and the sky was the limit for Washington right off the bat. Everyone noticed the speed and agility he had and quickly thought he could be a Swiss army knife for the Broncos.

But, that didn't work out. The Kansas City Chiefs then signed him off of the waiver wire , and he has been up and down in terms of the active roster and practice squad, ever since.

But, with the way he's been performing at training camp for the Chiefs this summer, he could find himself a permanent spot on the active 53-man roster, which is barring something crazy as a trade happens.

He has been performing very well at training camp, and, one could even say that he has the play of the summer so far in Chiefs training camp with what was a spectacular catch.

In this play, he rose up and grabbed a touchdown with one hand on a play that really looked impossible, but he made it possible. It's important that he is making plays because the Chiefs are looking for anyone to help their passing offense, one that was so bad last year.

Last year the offense was so bad, and the receiving corps was so bad, that they are legit looking for anyone at the end of the depth chart in that position room, who can help out. If they think Washington can, he could be the last guy to make the roster.
