The Kansas City Chiefs will get one step closer to the 2024 NFL season on Saturday as they hit the road to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in preseason Week 1.
There's plenty to keep an eye on, as Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs' starters are expected to play anywhere from one series to a full quarter . Even if we only get a brief glimpse at the starters, coaches and front office staff will begin evaluating all of the talent across the roster. They'll look for things that you simply can't evaluate in full during training camp practices, like tackling and the run game. There will also be a first look at the new kick return and all the players involved with it for Kansas City.
There are plenty of ways to watch/stream the game and not miss a moment of the action.
The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 10. Ari Wolfe and Trent Green will be on the call. If you're in the Kansas City area, the game will be locally broadcast on KMCI (38 the Spot). Weather report and other notable details about preseason Week 1
Four Jaguars starters won't play against the Chiefs due to injuries, but Jags HC Doug Pederson is cut from the same cloth as Andy Reid. He'll play the majority of his starters at the onset of the game, just as Reid does to practice and get some good reps on tape to evaluate.
This game is trending toward being quite the wet one at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. It'll be hot and humid with a high of 91 degrees. They expect Scattered Thunderstorms in the evening and a 50% chance of precipitation. Keep in mind that the NFL will put the game in weather delay should there be lightning in the area. They actually ended up canceling the Hall of Fame game due to the weather conditions.
