Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have had a lot of fun on the recruiting trail lately, landing a ton of bluechips in the next two classes, including recently adding a 5-star defender. Apparently it wasn't enough to garner the love of the rankers over at ESPN.

With the recently-posted ESPN 2025 college football recruiting class rankings , Oregon has taken a small dip from their previous standing with the surge of an unexpected school.

Oregon ranked as the No. 6 2025 recruiting class

In the latest ranking, Oregon slots in at No. 6, down one spot from their previous ranking. The top five consist of Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Auburn, who has been on an absolute tear in recent weeks.

Auburn has been going nuts on the recruiting trail , landing five different 4-star recruits in the last two weeks. Even still, I'm not sure Oregon deserves to have slipped, if I'm being perfectly honest.

Of Oregon's 15 recruits in the 2025 recruiting cycle, 14 of them are at least 4-star players. That 14 blue chip number is the same as Auburn, and their 93% blue chip percentage is the highest in the country .

Basically what I'm learning is that when Oregon fills out the depth of their recruiting class with more 3-star recruits, they should jump back up. As of now, Oregon has made it a priority to go after the biggest names, which they've done better than anybody.

Oregon's recruiting class headlined by a pair of stud 5-star players

Far and away, the headliners in Oregon's class so far are Dakorien Moore, 5-star, No. 1 wide receiver , and No. 3 overall player in next year's class according to On3, who shocked the college football landscape by selecting Oregon over LSU, Texas, and Ohio State.

Adding to Moore, Oregon also pulled 5-star safety Trey McNutt out of Ohio . McNutt is the No. 20 overall player and No. 2 safety in the country, providing a much-needed anchor in the defensive secondary as Oregon starts life against the talent of Big Ten offense.

Even if Oregon's final ranking does slot in somewhere around that fifth-best class mark, we're still looking at an incredible haul that is shaping up to define Oregon's future as they march towards being one of the elite programs in the country.
