Eagles' biggest winners and losers from preseason game 1 vs. Ravens

The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off their first preseason matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Friday night, winning 16-13.

A handful of starters, including Jalen Hurts, Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, Cam Jurgens, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Darius Slay, Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, Saquon Barkley, and Dallas Goedert did not dress.

But for those who did, we're going to take a quick look at the biggest winners and losers from Game 1 of the Eagles' preseason.

Eagles Biggest Winners

CB Quinyon Mitchell

Mitchell, who lined up at cornerback and at nickel , almost picked off Ravens backup quarterback Josh Johnson early in the first quarter on a third down, forcing Baltimore to kick a field goal.

While he didn't secure it, it was still a beautiful pass breakup by the rookie and showed just how comfortable he is reading quick throws.

LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Not only did Trotter Jr. prove he's valuable on special teams with a nice tackle, but he also logged the first and only sack of the game, along with three more tackles in the first quarter alone.

Like father, like son? Let's hope so.

RB Will Shipley

Shipley scored the Eagles' first touchdown against Baltimore as Kenny Pickett faked the pitch to him before targeting him in the end zone for a score.

Along with his seven-yard touchdown reception, Shipley finished the game rushing for 23 yards on seven carries.

Eagles Biggest Losers

RG Tyler Steen

Mekhi Becton played just one drive at right guard before Steen took over. It looks like it's Becton's job to lose. Steen didn't look like a starter out there and appeared to have had issues with his right ankle.

QB Kenny Pickett

Pickett didn't look terrible, but he also didn't look too promising and made it clear that he's still not comfortable throwing downfield.

Pickett finished the night completing 14 of 22 passes for 89 yards and one touchdown. He also took two sacks.

WR Anias Smith

Not only did Smith look slow, but he looked like he was trying way too hard to make a big play on the punt returns, which didn't work out in his favor at all. He also fumbled the ball on a return heading into the fourth quarter, but luckily it went out of bounds.

We can't make any excuses for him, but there's a chance he's still battling through his stress fracture injury .
