Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell almost logged his first NFL interception in Friday night's first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

While he didn't secure the ball in his hands, it was still an impressive pass breakup by the Eagles' first-round draft pick on a third down to stop the play.

But in his eyes, a PBU was not enough enough.

“It was in the bread basket, and I let it out," Mitchell said adding, "I really want that back. I was kind of mad at myself. This week in practice, I gotta keep working hard and just bring it in next time."

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni would have also liked to have seen Mitchell intercept the pass intended for Ravens' Malik Cunningham, but he was overall happy with that play's outcome.

"That was a good play," Sirianni said. "It was a near interception, and I would have liked to see (Mitchell) finish it. We’re going to talk about that. I’ve seen him finish it before. It was a good breakup on third down that stopped that drive."

Mitchell played the entire first half, lining up at outside corner and inside at nickel. He looked comfortable in both spots, but he is eager to get back to the practice field next week to correct his mistakes.

"Just playing the nickel position, I gotta talk more, I gotta communicate more," Mitchell said. "I just gotta know my assignments. Each and every day, I try to get better and learn from my mistakes."

Mitchell being that hard on himself in his first-ever NFL debut should have Eagles fans fired up to see what else is in store for the rookie in 2024.
