The Oklahoma Sooners have always put out great offensive linemen. Just in the last few years, they have had one drafted every year. The best, though, in recent memory, has to be Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey. He is the best center in football and is looking to get a massive payday soon based on some reports we have heard.

And they could very well have another guy who is at that same level. Well, let's slow down just a bit before we get way ahead of ourselves, but just know that the Sooners' starting center for the 2024 season has some similarities to Humphrey, including a watch list that just came out.

This week the NCAA released their Remington Watch List, which is the award for the best center in college football. In 2019, Humphrey's last season, he was a finalist to win the award. Branson Kickman, the transfer from SMU, is on the watchlist, much like his successor was.

"Branson, again, he's been a leader for a long time," head coach Brent Venables said at SEC spring meetings in Destin, Florida. "He's a coach's kid with incredible experience. He's going to bring a wealth of ability and fundamentals and technique, and he's an incredibly bright guy—he's already graduated, but the level of intelligence that he'll bring to the table will help him transition, even though it's late in the springtime."

The Sooners could have a special guy in Hickman, who has some similar traits to what we saw with Humphrey. In the run game, he can get to that second level and lay someone out. In the passing game, he can hold it down as well as anyone else on this offensive line. But, now it's about doing it against better competition.

Hickman can be a very good player. Now, will he be Humphrey? No. He's his own player, but he can be very good.
