The Atlanta Falcons are adding a talented piece to their offense and special teams units. A former All-Pro is headed to Atlanta.

Falcons sign All-Pro returner Jakeem Grant after Rondale Moore injury

Grant is a two-time second-team All-Pro selection. His past two seasons have ended early due to injuries. Now, he is healthy and ready to make an impact. Atlanta is hopeful that he will do exactly that.

As I noted, this move follows a season-ending injury for dynamic weapon Rondale Moore. The Falcons added him in a trade earlier in the offseason, but he will not play a regular season snap for them in 2024.

In 2022, Grant tore his Achilles and in 2023, he tore a patellar tendon.

Both are serious injuries, so the road has been a difficult one for the veteran playmaker.

That being said, his speed and elusiveness have been on full display during his pro career. He's proven to be one of the top returners in football and can be a useful threat in the offensive passing game, too.

We will see if Grant can lock down a roster spot for the Falcons. There is certainly a hole left by Moore's absence after his unfortunate injury during practice. The WR depth chart for the Falcons is relatively unproven when it comes to depth.

Grant has four punts returned for touchdowns and two kickoffs in his career. Additionally, he’s averaged 10.3 yards per punt return and 24.5 yards per kick return.

His first in-game opportunity for Atlanta will be in preseason Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. Make sure to tune in.
