The Cincinnati Bengals didn't come out as winners on the field Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but no major injuries will always be the best news to receive.

Wide receiver Charlie Jones can include himself in this category as well, even if he didn't play in the game.

Head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Jones banged knees with a defender and avoided a major injury during practice on Thursday. Jones was carted off the practice field and had an MRI later in the day.

"He'll be week-to-week," Taylor told media members after the game. "He banged nice with one of the DBs on that play."

Jones didn't suit up Saturday evening due to the injury, but he was walking around during warmups with a sleeve covering his knee.

The outlook typically isn't great when a player gets carted off the field with a knee injury, but it sounds like Jones will be OK. 28 days remain until Week 1, and a healthy Jones is a safe bet to make the 53-man roster.

Following Thursday's practice, fellow second-year wideout Andrei Iosivas told media members he thought Jones banged knees with a teammate on the bang-bang play. It turns out he was right.

Without Jones, the Bengals played Shedrick Jackson, Kwamie Lassiter II, and Kendric Pryor at the three receiver spots with the second-string offense. Rookie Jermaine Burton came on later and led the offense with 82 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The sooner Jones returns to practice, the sooner he can hold down his spot in the receivers room. He was having a great start to training camp , and it sounds like now he'll be able to finish it before the regular season arrives.
