Damar Hamlin reveals 10 winners of Cincinnati scholarships, in honor of UC medical staff
Ten students will receive the 2024 Cincinnati Heroes Scholarship from Damar Hamlin's Chasing M's Foundation. The program, which will award $1,000 scholarships to 10 students each year for the next three years, is in honor of the 10 medical personnel who helped save the Buffalo Bills safety's life. Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field in 2023 while playing the Bengals at Paycor Stadium.

UC alumna Jordan Thompson selected to 2024 US Olympic team
Former University of Cincinnati volleyball player Jordan Thompson has been selected to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Women's Volleyball Team, the organization announced recently. Thompson has been tabbed to her second consecutive Olympic roster. She was part of the 2020 U.S. team that won the gold medal in Tokyo, becoming the sixth Bearcat to earn a gold medal. She joined track and field athlete Mary Wineberg (2008), aquatics athlete Jennifer Kemp (1972) and soccer athlete Vanessa Giles (2020) as well as George Wilson (1964) and Oscar Robertson (1960) from the men's basketball program.

On June 17, the Cincinnati Enquirer held its fall, winter and spring sports All-Star Awards ceremony at Princeton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Enquirer had selected and invited the top athletes from each of the various sports from their Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana service area to attend. It is an honor for any athlete to be named as one of the Enquirer's nominees for this event. In each sport two athletes (one boy and one girl) were named as the overall All-Star of the Year based on their achievements through out the season.

Jaylen Harrell, a four-star prospect in the Class of 2025, included Xavier in his final six choices along with Alabama, Kansas, Providence, Rutgers and Virginia Tech. Ultimately, though, Harrell opted to join Kim English's Providence Friars, he announced in a live commitment video Monday night on YouTube. Providence is just over 40 miles south of Cambridge Arts, Technology and Science (CATS) in Braintree, Mass., where Harrell is the state's top-ranked player in his class, per 247Sports, and was Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023.
