Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Marquez Callaway's return to the New Orleans Saints didn't last long.

Callaway, who started his NFL career with the Saints in 2020 after being signed as an undrafted free agent, returned to New Orleans on August 1 after getting released by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this summer.

11 days later, the Saints released Callaway. It was Callaway's third stint with the Saints.

Callaway, who played at Tennessee from 2016 to 2019, had a promising start to his NFL career in New Orleans. The former Vol put up modest numbers as a rookie in 2020, catching 21 passes for 213 yards.

In 2021, Callaway had a breakout season for the Saints, catching 46 passes for 698 yards, and six touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Callaway, he hasn't been able to recreate the magic he found in 2021. He's caught just 16 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown since 2021.

Callaway, who has also spent time with the Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders, is still just 26 years old. He's shown he can produce at the NFL level, he just needs a legitimate chance to earn some playing time.

We've seen a rash of injuries in the NFL over the last several days. It seems likely that Callaway will find another opportunity in the NFL before the start of the 2024 season.
