Everyone is watching the situation with Matthew Judon and the New England Patriots. On Monday we found out that the Patriots have been at least getting offers from multiple teams . No word on if the Detroit Lions are one of those teams, but they have been considered to be one of the heavy favorites for some time now.

If the Lions did make that trade, what would it look like? Well, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox presented an interesting trade proposal that would net the Lions Judon for one of their receivers and a Day three pick. Here's his proposal:

    Lions get: Matthew Judon
Patriots get: Donovan Peoples-Jones and and 2026 fourth-round pick

I have to tell you, I don't think the Patriots would take that trade. Right now Peoples-Jones is teetering on the bubble of whether or not he's going to make the Lions 53-man roster. For much of camp he's been teetering in the direction of not making it, but Lions' head coach Dan Campbell did say on Monday that Peoples-Jones has looked better since the game. He didn't have the best day when they took the field for practice though. So basically he had a good Sunday.

The Patriots are probably more likely to be looking for a 2025 pick as well since they're giving up one of their best players. But the range is probably right. Judon is 31-years-old and coming off an injury that kept him out for most of the 2023 season. Plus he's looking for an extension.

We've projected in the past that Judon could get an extension that's similar to the one that Cam Jordan just got with the New Orleans Saints. A two year extension worth $27.5 million. Not a ton. Not something that's going to hurt the Lions ability to get deals done with their current players or future free agents.

In terms of a trade offer, we projected the Lions could get it done for a 2025 fourth and a 2025 sixth-round pick. We'll see where this goes. It's one to watch for sure.
