The Oklahoma Sooners are filled with talent on the offensive side of the ball. We have talked about it extensively -- the wide receiver room is loaded . They have guys all around in that room to ensure that sophomore quarterback Jackson Arnold has enough weapons to throw to. And, that's the right way to do it when you have a young and not very experienced quarterback.

Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq obviously headline the room with Nic Anderson being the main red zone threat due to his size and reach. But there are other guys who will be great as well, like Andrel Anthony, and Jayden Gibson.

Well, they had Gibson as a depth piece.

Last week during practice at fall camp, the Sooners sustained an injury to Gibson. He hurt his knee, and while there wasn't really any confirmation on what was going on, we all kind of thought that it wasn't good.

On Tuesday, head coach Brent Venables let everyone know that Gibson is going to be out for some time.

“He won’t be back," Venables said quickly of Gibson.

We can assume from everything else we have heard, that this means that Gibson will be out for maybe the entirety of the year.

In terms of overall standings and who was the best to wort wide receiver on the team, Gibson probably floated around in those four areas as the fourth best, which means he was probably going to see the field in some way. He's a good football player, with great speed for a guy his size at 6'5".

So, while a lot of fans may not look at this as a big loss, it certainly is.
