Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell provided a positive injury update for former Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker on Wednesday morning.

Hooker, a third round selection by the Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft, suffered a concussion in Detroit's preseason opener against the New York Giants.

During an appearance on 97.1 The Ticket on Wednesday, Campbell said that Hooker is trending in the right direction to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

Hooker is currently battling Nate Sudfeld for the No. 2 quarterback job in Detroit.

The former Vol looked good against the Giants before getting forced from the game. Hooker completed five-of-nine passes for 36 yards to go along with 34 rushing yards. It was Hooker's first live game action since he tore his ACL in late 2022 in Tennessee's loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Detroit is certainly hoping Hooker is back on the field against the Chiefs this weekend. He needs the reps and the Lions need to see if they can count on him as Jared Goff's primary backup this season.
