New England Patriots rookie quarterback Joe Milton showed Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel some love on Thursday night after the the Patriots' preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Milton, who trucked an Eagles defender in the fourth quarter, was asked after the game what he's learned as an NFL quarterback so far during the preseason.

The former Vols quarterback pointed to the importance of moving on to the next play, something he said Heupel preached at Tennessee.

"Something that I learned tonight from last week is you just gotta keep going, no matter what," said Milton. "I feel like that's something that our head coach at Tennessee, Coach Heupel, taught us well. Just flush the last play. Move on to the next play. You never know what's going to happen. One play could be bad, then the next play could be a touchdown. So just learn how to move on from it."

It's clear that Milton's three seasons in Knoxville made an impact on him as a player. And he's carrying many of the lessons that he learned from Heupel with him to the NFL.

Milton is battling Bailey Zappe for the No. 3 quarterback job in New England. Through the first two preseason games, it looks like Milton has the inside track to win the job.
