As the 2024 college football season draws nearer, all eyes are beginning to turn towards the 2025 NFL Draft.

For three years in a row, no players from the University of Colorado were picked in the NFL Draft, but it looks like that streak is set to end in 2025. The team boasts two prospects who are capturing the attention of the draft class, with expectations high for both to be selected in the first round.

In The 33rd Team ’s most recent 2025 NFL mock draft, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter were selected in the first two picks. Sanders landed with the New York Giants at No. 1, and Hunter was routed to New England at No. 2.

Sanders is highly regarded for his remarkable accuracy, which has not gone unnoticed by NFL scouts, and was prominently displayed in 2023.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 215 pounds, the quarterback connected on 69.3% of his throws, ranking him eighth in the FBS, and tossed 27 touchdowns to a mere three interceptions, despite being the most frequently sacked QB in FBS at 52 times. While not all sacks can be attributed to the offensive line, Sanders sometimes held onto the ball for too long, leading to unfavorable outcomes.

Nonetheless, according to Pro Football Focus, Sanders received the third-highest passing grade from a clean pocket (92.9) in college football for the last season. This placed him just behind Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, who were the top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Here's what Marcus Mosher wrote in his analysis for his Sanders selection:

It doesn't seem very likely that the New York Giants will end up with the No. 1 overall pick, but they could easily move up to this spot if Daniel Jones doesn't take a major step forward.

Sanders needs to improve his decision-making and could stand to take fewer sacks, but he is a prolific pocket passer who has a chance to put up huge numbers in 2024.

Also from Colorado, the versatile Travis Hunter is making waves, currently with the sixth-best odds (+2000) to be the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Hunter, who won the 2023 Paul Hornung Award for the most versatile player in college football, stood out on offense and defense. He was second on his team with 57 receptions for 721 yards and five touchdowns, despite missing three games due to injury. On the defensive side, he tied for the most interceptions on the team with three and led in pass breakups with five, all while accumulating 31 total tackles.

Here's what Mosher wrote about Hunter:

Is this high for Travis Hunter? Maybe. But it's a long time since we've seen an athlete of his caliber. And the New England Patriots have a history of letting players play on both sides of the ball.

We've even seen it recently with Marcus Jones in 2022. Hunter will likely be a wide receiver in the NFL, considering there is more money to be made at that position. Hopefully, his next team will allow him to spend time on both sides of the ball.

Hunter, who played over 100 snaps in seven games, faces the decision of whether he will pursue a career in the NFL as a receiver or cornerback.
