NFC North rival criticized for brutal playing surface a week after Vikings debut theirs

The Minnesota Vikings have received a lot of criticism across the league, including from their rivals, about having their home stadium in a dome. The criticism focuses on their history of being the Purple People Eaters and Bud Grant not having heaters on the sideline.

The Vikings have been in domed stadiums since 1982 and haven't had to worry much about their playing surface. Now, they did get some criticism, especially from the NFLPA, for having slit turf which some blamed for injuries that they suffered but it was replaced this offseason.

The Vikings may not play outside anymore which you could argue should be what their home games are like. What they don't have is a playing surface that could be considered dangerous for the players.

That's arguably what Soldier field looks like on Saturday afternoon as they are set to host the Cincinnati Bengals.

Just look at the field! You can see the seams in the sod which could become very dangerous for the players. It's not uncommon for new sod to be laid before a game starts because it takes a lot to maintain a field. However, the seams aren't supposed to be visible. Criticizing the Vikings for having a dome in Minnesota while asking players to play a game on this awful surface is pretty ironic.

The game is set to kick off at 12 p.m. CST and hopefully, nobody gets hurt.
