7 stock up and 3 stock down for the Lions after preseason game against the Chiefs

    By Mike Payton,

Another preseason game is in the books for the Detroit Lions. The Lions went out to Kansas City and pulled out heir first win of the fake football season with a 24-23 score.

We kept our eyes glued to all the players in this one and and we have seven players whose stock went up and three players whose stock went down. Let's jump into it.

    Stock up: Sione Vaki

Vaki's stock was up last week and now it's up even more. He was the brightest spot of the day by far. Especially on the final drive of the first half where Vaki caught four passes for 59 yards and was nearly unstoppable. He looks like a guy the Lions can easily slot in anywhere in 2024. He finished the day with 82 all purpose yards in one half of football. Not bad at all.

    Stock down: Nate Sudfeld

    Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

I'm not going to lie, I considered putting him in the stock up section becasue this was a much better outing than he had against the Giants, but there was just too many bad throws. Especially on the final drive of the first half when he had a chance to get more points on the board.

I don't know what he was doing, but he aired multiple passes out of the back of the end zone and the Lions had to settle for a Jake Bates field goal. At one point it seemed like Sudfeld could net the QB2 spot this summer. Those days seem so long ago now.

    Stock up: Kindle Vildor

What a week for Vildor. He got to come in with the first team due to Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw being out with injuries and he showed up big in practice and then had a very good day on Thursday. Vildor was in good coverage every time you saw him and had a nice pass break up too. Vildor may have inked his name onto the 53-man roster with this solid week.

    Stock down: Donovan Peoples-Jones

A really bad day for Peoples-Jones. He was targeted four times and only wound up walking away with one catch for 5-yards. Worst than that, Peoples-Jones has to shoulder some of the blame for the interception that Nate Sudfeld threw. Peoples-Jones was the intended target and had zero separation and the corner was able to pick. Of course Sudfeld shouldn't have thrown it there, but DPJ didn't help. He's likely to get cut on the 31st.

    Stock up: Isaiah Willams

    Kevin R&period Wexler &sol NorthJersey&periodcom &sol USA TODAY NETWORK

Williams had a good game last Thursdays against the Giants and then topped it in a big way against the Chiefs on Saturday night. He went out there and made some nice plays as a kick returner outside of the fumble. He had a big return that helped set up the Lions game winning field goal. On offense he had six catches for 71 yards on eight targets. If you saw him on the field Saturday, he was making a play happen.

The only real trouble is that the Lions just might not have a spot for him with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond being able to do what he does and better. Maybe they carve something out.

    Stock down: Colby Sorsdal

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=4GsXG9_0v1m0i4l00

It might be time to worry about the Lions swing tackle spot right now. Sorsdal had a bad day last Thursday and then had another rough game against the Chiefs. He got called for a false start and then one play later he completely ignored a linebacker that came in and got a tackle for a loss kin the third quarter. He allowed some pressures as well. Not saying he's cut or anything like that, but Sorsdal needs some time to grow.

    Stock up: Kaden Davis

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0bXFPL_0v1m0i4l00

Someone needed to step up when it came to this receiving corps. The Lions have been dying for it. Now, I wouldn't say that Davis had the greatest game ever, but he made some plays and he got a big 61-yard touchdown.

It's big for him because while the receiver room is still so undefined, Davis has something that he can point to that could help him make a 53-man roster for the first time in his career.

    Stock up: Jake Bates

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0UnGku_0v1m0i4l00

What a turnaround from this kid. In the first few weeks of training camp it looked like this was just not going to work out. He had miss after miss and the consensus from people who were there was that the Lions were going to look for some competition for him and he could lose that competition.

Since the first preseason game he has been electric and deadly with his leg. Now, he did miss a PAT in this one, but Bates had hits from 55, 23 and a big 43-yarder that was the game winner. The Lions have their guy.

    Stock up: Hendon Hooker

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0mWIRG_0v1m0i4l00

    Kevin R&period Wexler &sol NorthJersey&periodcom &sol USA TODAY NETWORK

A really solid game for Hooker. He's the QB2. That was one of the big questions coming into this game and Hooker answered it. Yes, he went up against worse talent than Sudfeld did and he made some big mistakes, but you can really see the upside. He still needs more time and more reps, so don't think he's going to be an NFL starter anytime soon, but this was way better than Sudfeld. He finished the day going 12-15 for 150 yards and ran one in for a touchdown.

    Stock up: Golden Tate

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1rn5bZ_0v1m0i4l00

    Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Yeah, we're including Tate in this one becasue after a rough first game in the booth, Tate was easily the most entertaining thing about about this game. He was so fun to listen to and had opinions on it all. If a Lions player did something bad, Tate was there to talk about how bad it was. If something good happened he told you why.

Tate even got his Romo on a little where he was calling some penalties before they were announced and explained some plays. Good stuff Golden.
