Bills Mafia needs to see Josh Allen and the offense answer major questions in third and final preseason game

There's only one week to go in the preseason, and the Buffalo Bills seem to still have more questions than answers on offense. There were promising signs of life in their second preseason outing, namely in the run game, but the passing game is still an enigma.

Primarily, this stems from superstar quarterback Josh Allen only suiting up for three pass attempts through two games, but with time running out to establish chemistry with new playmakers, the nerves are starting to percolate for Bills fans.

Buffalo has yet to score a touchdown this preseason

I know, I know. It's the preseason. It "doesn't count." But still, the fact that the Bills are one of only two teams, joined by the Los Angeles Chargers, that have yet to score a touchdown in the preseason seems less than ideal.

The Bills offense was one of the most dominant units in the league last year, scoring the sixth-most points per game. Obviously Allen hardly playing this preseason is a big contributor to the aforementioned stat, but plenty of teams around the league have managed to find the end zone with their backups. The Bills have not.

We know this offense will look different this year without Stefon Diggs . Everyone's pretty tired of talking about it, to be honest. But with only one preseason game remaining, the Bills need to put together an offensive performance that instills some confidence in the players and the direction of this squad.

Josh Allen needs game reps with new targets

The practice reports have been great about Allen and the rapport that he has with newcomers like veteran Curtis Samuel and rookie Keon Coleman , but we need to see it in game action. Coleman has been tough to evaluate through two preseason contests with poor quarterback play, including a hospital ball that he smartly pulled up on in the second preseason game.

I don't blame him one bit. Coleman generated good goal line separation, and that ball from Mitch Trubisky needs to be right in Coleman's stomach. Hanging him out to dry and making him extend his body with a crashing safety is a very poor throw. In a preseason game, I don't blame Coleman for not laying out for it, but this was as close as the Bills have come to putting a touchdown on the board through two weeks.

For this offense, there needs to be extended playing time between Allen, Coleman, Samuel, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid , and Dawson Knox in a live situation so the chemistry and the mojo can start to flow before they host the Arizona Cardinals to open the regular season in just a couple weeks.
