Tennessee Vols could have some unexpected good recruiting news on the way

On Sunday, the Tennessee Vols capped off a big weekend by flipping 2025 four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Harmon's flip came a day after 2025 five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr announced his commitment to Tennessee.

On3's Steve Wiltfong joined 104.5 The Zone's Ramon, Kayla, and Will on Monday morning to discuss the latest recruiting news surrounding the Volunteers and he dropped a nugget that will certainly excite Tennessee fans.

Wiltfong reported that 2025 four-star linebacker Ty Jackson is trying to set up a visit to Tennessee.

Jackson, 6-foot-2/197 lbs from Loxahatchee, FL, is rated by On3 as the No. 1 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class.

"I have a story coming out later today, Ty Jackson, the No. 1 linebacker in the country, is looking to set up a visit to Tennessee," said Wiltfong. "So Coach (William) Inge (UT's LBs coach) and the Vols [are] not done trying to recruit that linebacker position in this class. But they'll be battling Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and some others for him."

Jackson has visited Alabama several times this year and he's expected to return to Tuscaloosa this fall.

Until this point, Florida and Florida State have been viewed as Alabama's biggest competition for Jackson. But it sounds the Vols could emerge as a threat to land the talented linebacker (but only if Jackson is able to make it to Knoxville a time or two before the early signing period in December).

Tennessee is on a recruiting heater lately. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Vols become a major player for the top linebacker in the 2025 class.
