Tom Brady shares opinion about the Packers that will shock NFL fans ahead of the 2024 season

The Green Bay Packers are not betting favorites to win the Super Bowl. Well, they are not even favorites to win the NFC North, since the Detroit Lions are projected to finish the regular season with more wins.

But a guy who knows a thing or two about winning championships in the NFL has an interesting perspective about what the Packers can do in 2024.

In an interview to the Stephen A. Smith Show, retired quarterback and now Fox analyst Tom Brady was asked about which team could challenge the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty. The San Francisco 49ers are the obvious answer there, but Brady also mentioned two other teams that can be dangerous this season.

"I think it's probably still the 49ers," Brady said. "And the Packers I think are gonna be a great team, and I think the Rams are gonna be a good team this year too."

    Trajectory

Both the Packers and the Rams had a similar path to be where they are now. They invested significant resources in their rosters from 2020 to 2022, and used the 2023 season as a moment to reload . They were amongst the least expensive rosters in the NFL last season, and weren't expected to contend right away.

However, an influx of young talent and the high-level coaching by Matt LaFleur and Sean McVay allowed the Packers and the Rams not only to reach the playoffs, but to win a playoff game. They ended up losing in the NFC divisional round, but Brady knows that they can get better in year 2 of the new eras.

    Respect

Back in May, Tom Brady had already praised the Packers but how they handled the transition from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Brady, who was Drew Bledsoe's backup for more than a season, mentioned that being on the bench was highly important for Love to become what he is now.

"He had Aaron Rodgers to watch," Brady said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. "That's the best type of training, in my opinion. Watch someone else do it at a very high level, and then try to emulate them with your own personality. Maybe a little bit of a misconception with the draft is that these players can come in and all of a sudden become this great, professional player before they've really had the training and the development."

Last year, Jordan Love had his first season as a full-time starter. Now established, and one of the highest-paid players in NFL history, Love has higher expectations — and it looks like Tom Brady is buying the hype around what Green Bay can do.
