Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen hits the nail on the head responding to question about unnecessary narrative

In the summer of 2021, Josh Allen received a new contract that made him the second-highest-paid quarterback in the league behind Patrick Mahomes . It was a "get ahead of it" type move for Buffalo, rewarding Allen handsomely on the back of one breakout season.

Now, just three years later, Allen's contract doesn't even sit in the top-10 at his position in the league, despite Allen being widely considered one of the elite quarterbacks of the NFL. Allen made his feelings known on his contract after practice today.

Josh Allen's contract doesn't match his production

When you combine passing with rushing stats, Allen led all quarterbacks in total yards (4,830) and touchdowns (44). Yes, I know he threw 18 interceptions. Not ideal, but count me amongst the masses that says I'll live with the turnovers from a quarterback that accounts for more yards and touchdowns than anyone else.

With the recent contracts that have been awarded, Joe Burrow , Jordan Love , and Trevor Lawrence are all making $55 million per year, and Tua Tagovailoa and Jared Goff are making $53 million per year. All five of those contracts were handed out just this offseason. On a per-year basis, Allen at $43 million is now the 13th-highest paid quarterback in the league. He was asked about it today.

"Listen, everyone's going to have their day, and I'm happy that everyone's getting what they're worth, right? And I think that as the game progresses and guys keep getting paid, again, the market is the market, and I've got no problem with where I'm at right now. You know, I had my day a couple years ago, and I'm sure someday I'll have it again, but I think the main thing is the main thing, and it's playing football to the best of my ability, and everything else will take care of itself."

Allen answered it right, but there is that little nugget in there of "having his day again" someday. For now, Bills fans don't need to fret, as the quarterback seems happy with what he's making. His focus is on playing football at an incredibly high level.
