Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies fans can now circle their calendars for SEC men’s basketball clashes

Texas A&M officials practically demanded the Texas Longhorns’ football team come to Kyle Field in their first year of SEC play. League officials are sending the men’s basketball team to College Station, too.

Texas will open the SEC men’s basketball schedule at Texas A&M on Jan. 4, 2025, according to the conference schedule unveiled Tuesday.

Kevin Durant’s Longhorns and Acie Law’s Aggies staged some of the most thrilling Big 12 games when they were in the same league together. New coaches, new players and new chapters await when the rivalry renews on the hardwood come the new year.

With the conference schedule being unveiled, Texas now has a complete men’s basketball schedule for the 2024-25 campaign . The season opener is Nov. 4 against Ohio State in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena.

UT will face Syracuse and either Saint Joseph’s or Texas Tech in the Legends Classic at Barclays Center on Nov. 21-22. Then, coach Rodney Terry’s club will play at North Carolina State on Dec. 4 in the SEC-ACC Challenge.

Texas’ biggest non-conference home game comes against UConn on Dec. 8 at Moody Center. A string of more home games round out December, and then the Horns will buckle in for SEC play.

After playing at A&M, Texas will we back home for games against Auburn (Jan. 7) and Rick Barnes’ Tennessee Volunteers (Jan. 11). The Longhorns and Aggies will meet at Moody Center for the return match on Jan. 25.

Oddly enough, the SEC has scheduled the other mega-matchup for February. Texas will play Arkansas both home (Feb. 4) and away (Feb. 25) in the month known for love, although there is none of that between these two fan bases.

Texas fans will circle the Kentucky game on Feb. 15 at Moody Center. UT closes out the regular season with games against Georgia (March 1), at Mississippi State (March 4) and Oklahoma (March 8).

The SEC men’s basketball tournament is scheduled for March 12-16 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Last season, a record-tying 10 SEC teams made the NCAA Tournament.
