The New Orleans Saints need more from Derek Carr in 2024. 2023 was a rollercoaster of performances from him and his entire offensive unit. One of New Orleans' best veterans on their defense has faith in Carr this season.

Tyrann Mathieu believes in Saints QB Derek Carr

With Jim Rome, the Saints star safety discussed his thoughts on Carr. He thinks that the best of Carr's career in New Orleans is yet to come.

"I think he's a phenomenal quarterback, man, like, it's tough to replace a legend (Drew Brees), you know, and I can't, I can't really, I don't want to know what that feels like, you know what I mean, because I'm pretty sure it's some high expectations..."

"a phenomenal leader, you know, one of the first guys in, last guys to leave building, you know, type guy. And like, he wants it, and I can see that, and as a fellow team leader, right? Like, I can see him work, and I can see him prepare..."

"Because I don't think we've seen the best version of Derek yet, right, like, and I'm hoping that, you know, he's able to kind of put that on display, you know, this year for everybody to see. Because, like, like, he's one of those good dudes that deserve it, you know what I mean." -- Tyrann Mathieu on Derek Carr

Mathieu clearly wants to see Carr succeed.

He understands that his success directly translates to wins for New Orleans. The defense is plenty talented enough to hold its own in the NFC. They simply need more production on the offensive side of the ball.

Mathieu and plenty of others guys have increased convince in that occurring with the addition of Klint Kubiak as the offense's play-caller. We will see if Carr can prove the star safety right in 2024.
