The Minnesota Vikings are currently 2-0 in the preseason with one more game on Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles. We've seen a multitude of great performances by players from just about every position and some of those have worked their way onto the roster .

While some have earned a roster spot, others have work to do to be able to make the final 53-man roster . What players need to have a great performance to keep their playbook? These three need things to go their way.

    QB Jaren Hall

With the injury to quarterback J.J. McCarthy, Hall felt like a shoe in for the roster, especially after the great performance against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. He might need a good game to make the roster, especially with the new rule implemented by the NFL.

Previously, you had to be on the active roster to be the third quarterback and not count toward the 45 active players. Now, you can be on the practice squad. With that rule change in play, the Vikings might want to slide Hall onto the practice squad. If he has a really good game, the Vikings might not be able to slide him onto the practice squad. That would land Hall a roster spot.

    OG Dalton Risner

The caveat with Risner is that he won't be playing on Saturday. Risner has been injured for the last few weeks and has yet to play in the preseason. What he needs isn't a great game from himself but rather a poor one from his contemporaries.

It started off with rookie Michael Jurgens struggling against the Browns and posting a Pro Football Focus passing grade of 10.8. That is a big caveat to Risner making the team because Jurgens was trending to make the roster. Tyrese Robinson has also been solid for the Vikings and that could put a wrench into Risner's ability to make the team. It won't help him with the alleged roster incentives in his contract.

    S Jay Ward

Moving Ward to outside cornerback was a good idea for the Vikings. They needed someone to play on the outside for practice and Ward had plenty of experience on the outside from his time at LSU. Unfortunately, it's been somewhat of a disaster for the Vikings.

Ward has struggled on the outside. He hasn't had the instincts to play consistently on the outside and it was evident early on and he was exposed quickly. Against the Browns, Ward wasn't just a liability, he struggled especially with tackling. You can't be a poor tackler in Brian Flores' defense. If he has a poor game and Lewis Cine has a good one, that could spell the end for Ward.
