The Oklahoma Sooners had a fan-favorite quarterback who barely played. But, he was definitely a fan favorite, nationally. not just within the Sooners' fan base.

His name, well, was none other than General Booty. Let's start with Booty's background.

General Booty comes from a family with a strong football lineage. His father, Abram Booty, played wide receiver at LSU and his uncle John David Booty played quarterback at USC before being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.

Booty attended four different high schools, eventually finishing at Allen High School in Texas. His college journey began at Tyler Junior College, where he led the team with 3,410 passing yards and 27 touchdowns in 2021, showcasing his talent at the junior college level.

In 2022, Booty transferred to the University of Oklahoma, where he was part of the roster but saw limited game action, making only one appearance against TCU in 2022. Despite his name gaining popularity, his playing time was minimal due to the depth chart.

After entering the transfer portal in May 2024, Booty committed to Louisiana-Monroe. His decision was influenced by the opportunity to start, which he was named for the 2024 season.

Booty transferred out because he knew he wasn't going to beat out Jackson Arnold. Now, he is playing for the Warhawks, where it is expected he will have a pretty big role, and that was before the most recent news.

On Wednesday, it was announced that he was named the starter for Week 1.

The former Sooners' fan favorite is starting for the Warhawks, where he will look to really take off his college career.
