Tennessee Vols defender makes big statement about crowd noise in the SEC compared to other conferences

Tennessee Vols redshirt junior defensive back Andre Turrentine doesn't think anywhere else in the country can compare to Neyland Stadium (and the SEC in general) when it comes to crowd noise.

Turrentine was asked about crowd noise on Monday while meeting with the media and he made it clear that he thinks the SEC is a notch above other conferences.

"How loud it is in Neyland, how loud it is in the SEC, period, is louder, I believe, than any other conference in the country," said Turrentine. "Just being able to understand that and know that and bring the same intensity as the crowd and the stadium [allows us] to bring that into the game. I think we'll have a hell of a season."

Turrentine, who was born in Louisiana, has some unique insight when it comes to "other conferences".

The former Ensworth School (Nashville) standout started his college career at Ohio State in 2021 before transferring to Tennessee ahead of the 2022 season. So he understands what Big 10 crowds are like, which gives his comments about crowd noise a bit more credence.

Tennessee fans will get plenty of opportunities to prove Turrentine correct in 2024 -- the Vols host a couple of massive home games (Florida and Alabama, specifically) where crowd noise should absolutely be a major factor.
