Tuesday may be cutdown day, but that doesn't mean teams are prevented from adding players to the roster, which is exactly what the Tennessee Titans are trying to do.

It sounds like it's all but done, too, as the Titans and Los Angeles Rams are finalizing a deal to send starting linebacker Ernest Jones IV to Nashville. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero first reported the news .

Jones has been a two-year starter since his emergence in 2021, when he played a huge role in helping the Rams win their second Super Bowl as a franchise. His 2023 totals consisting of 145 combined tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 14 tackles for loss were all career-highs and shows the potential that the 24-year-old holds as he enters his prime.

Once acquired, Jones is expected to come in and start opposite of former first-round pick, Kenneth Murray. If Murray can take advantage of his change of scenery, then the Titans could easily have one of the NFL's best off-ball linebacker duos. That still remains to be seen, but it's certainly a possibility.

The Titans want their inside linebackers playing down hill, pressuring the quarterback, and flying into the backfield for TFLs against the run. Wilson is not afraid to let his guys pin their ears back and attack.

By signing Kenneth Murray Jr. in free agency, the Titans added an explosive athlete to help them do just that. Now they’ve found another one in Ernest Jones that will spell trouble for opposing offenses.

Jones had run defense grade of 86.2 (T-7th among linebackers) and a pass rush grade of 83.1 (6th) in 2023. He also led all linebackers with 30 QB pressures. - Sam Phalen, A to Z Nashville

As mentioned above, the trade hasn't been made official, yet. We will provide any updates once they come through.

Update: Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , the Titans are receiving Jones and a 2026 sixth-rounder and the Rams are receiving a 2026 fifth-rounder.
