Eagles should stay away from signing this player that everyone is talking about

The Philadelphia Eagles are not done perfecting their 53-man roster following Tuesday's cutdown day deadline.

There are plenty of players floating around across the league that they could sign, but one that they should stay away from that many are talking about is familiar tight end, Jack Stoll.

Stoll, a former UDFA signing by the Eagles in 2021, hit the open market this past March and joined the New York Giants with hopes of landing a starting role.

That didn't work out too well for him following an uneventful preseason where he caught four passes for 39 yards and no touchdowns, leaving the Giants to move on from him on Tuesday.

While Stoll could offer some quality depth, the Eagles already have that in E.J. Jenkins, who signed to the practice squad, and Albert Okwuegbunam, who is currently on injured reserve.

It also wouldn't make sense because of Stoll's decision to move on from Philly in the first place, and how much he raved about the enemy.

“It’s a team that obviously didn’t have the year that they wanted last year. I wanted to be able to come in and make an impact on an organization,” Stoll said of New York back in July. “I thought this was an awesome organization. The players here think so. Daboll was Coach of the Year two years ago. So, it’s a no-brainer. It’s only on the rise.”

It is hard to ignore the fact that Stoll did a decent job stepping up in place of the injured Dallas Goedert over the years as he started 26 games in 50 career appearances, catching 20 passes for 183 yards for the Birds. But regardless, he didn't score a single touchdown.

There are other flashier options out there, so let's not waste a spot by bringing back Stoll.
