Wednesday was one of the busiest days on the Pittsburgh Steelers calendar, and it might not be done yet.

Following the initial construction of their 53-man roster , Pittsburgh didn't claim anyone on waivers and is currently sorting their practice squad .

Beyond that, HC Mike Tomlin named Russell Wilson the team's starting QB for the 2024 season.

But then came news that no one in Pittsburgh wanted. An injury to arguably the best player on the Steelers' offensive line, LG Isaac Seumalo.

Luckily for Pittsburgh, he has seemingly dodged a season-ending injury.

Update: Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Seumalo is slated to miss approximately a month with his injury and it will not require surgery.

Isaac Seumalo Suffers Pec Injury in Practice

Initial tests showed that Steelers guard Isaac Seumalo did not suffer a season-ending pectoral injury. The team still is weighing how long he could miss but as one source said, “We dodged a bullet.”

Pectoral injuries often affect those who play in the trenches, and seldom do they have positive outcomes. Even in this scenario, there is a chance that Seumalo will miss a significant amount of time, with Week 1 now in jeopardy.

T.J. Watt missed seven games in 2022 after partially tearing his pec and finally returned to full form last season.

We await the severity and ultimate prognosis, but Pittsburgh did put a proper insurance policy in place this offseason, and his name is Mason McCormick.

So from a glass-half standpoint, Pittsburgh received somewhat good news on Seumalo considering the potential of the injury, and should he miss significant time, the team has a more than capable replacement.
