The Detroit Lions season is right around the corner. Before we get into it, I thought i might be fun to take one last look at another insane trade proposal put out by an NFL writer. We found a crazy one for sure.

Marisa Myers of TWSN is saying that she believes the Lions will trade for Cowboys All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons. There's some merit to the initial idea that Parsons could get traded. The Cowboys do have to find a way to sign him to a massive extension while also doing the same for quarterback Dak Prescott who is more than likely going to get a lot more.

The Lions are even a logical place for Parsons to land since they have the money, but the Cowboys trading one of the best defensive players in the league to an NFC rival doesn't really track. But, since we're here. Let's look at the proposed terms of this trade.

    Lions get: Micah Parsons
Cowboys get: Two first-round picks, a third-round pick, a sixth-round pick, David Montgomery and maybe an offensive lineman

She was kind of all over the place on this one. At first the suggestion was that it would mirror the Bears trade with the Raiders that brought Khalil Mack to Chicago. Then she threw in David Montgomery and an unnamed offensive lineman.

This is insane and nobody should do this. The Lions have an incredible backfield with Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs and they have the best offensive line in football. There's just no way that they would trade any of those players away. Even if they do get a premier defensive player.

In terms of all the picks going away, I can see that to a point. If I were offering up a trade for Parsons, this is what I would propose:

Lions get: Micah Parsons and 2025 fourth-round pick
    Cowboys get: 2025 first-round pick, 2026 first-round pick and a 2026 third-round pick

It's still a lot, but when you're trading for a 25-year-old three time All-Pro, it can get expensive. But it doesn't need to be a new Herschel Walker trade where 15 picks and five players are getting moved or something like that. Just real simple, some top picks for a player and a pick.

Obviously it goes without saying that there is no way the Cowboys trade Parsons. They would probably let Prescott walk before they trade away one of the game's best defensive players.
