The offseason is over and football is finally back with Week 1 already here for college football. Ohio State will kick off their season against the Akron Zips at home to open their 2024-2025 schedule.

For Ohio State, it’ll be the opening game of a season with sky-high expectations around the football program. Their impressive offseason is in the rearview and now it is time for real football to be played.

The Buckeyes are 4-0 all-time against the Zips and last played during the 2021 season when Ohio State prevailed 59-7. You can read all about this year’s matchup right here .

Where to watch, stream, and listen to Ohio State vs. Akron

Kickoff : 3:30 p.m., Aug. 31; Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio

    Where to watch : CBS

Here are the announcers for the Ohio State-Akron game :

    Brad Nessler (play-by-play)

    Gary Danielson (analysis)

    Jenny Dell (sideline)

Stream : Paramount+, Fubo, CBS app

Radio : Locally on WBNS-FM/AM (97.1/1460). On the call: Paul Keels (play-by-play), Jim Lachey (analysis), Clay Hall (sideline)

This matchup should allow the Buckeyes to get the starters out at some first-half run and ideally replace them with depth by sometime in the third quarter. Depth is going to be one of the key factors in the season with an expanded playoff format. A game against the Zips is a perfect opportunity to get the younger players some run.

Saturday will give the college football world the first chance to see Caleb Downs, Jeremiah Smith, Quinshon Judkins, and Will Howard all in Ohio State uniforms. They are just a few of the off-season additions that the Buckeyes made. When you combine that with what they returned, it is easy to see why expectations are so high.

The Buckeyes have quite a few recruiting notes to know about this weekend too.
