As is typically the case, the quarterback position is going to be a massive part of the conversation leading into a big game. That was the case for the Notre Dame versus Texas A&M game on Saturday night. You had two very talented signal callers in that battle, Riley Leonard on the Irish side and Conner Weigman for the Aggies respectively.

Although Leonard was on pace to enter the 2024 NFL Draft class while with the Duke Blue Devil before the foot and ankle injury that cut his season short, Weigman was the one who seemed to be getting the majority of the headlines coming into the contest. For whatever reason, he was viewed as the quarterback who had the advantage entering the night.

Weigman proceeded to have a stinker of a performance, ending the night completing 12 of 30 passes for 100 yards and two interceptions. He also rushed for 26 yards on the ground, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. That performance left a lot to be decided by many, including CBS Sports National College Football reporter for Brandon Marcello.

Obviously harsh from Marcello, especially considering it was Weigman’s first game back from injury, but not at all incorrect. Weigman was not good in this contest, in fact, he was downright bad. People have mentioned the talented signal caller as a potential first round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, but we didn’t see that player tonight.
