Oddsmakers must’ve seen the same thing Texas Longhorns’ fans did during Saturday’s blowout win over Colorado State. The fourth-ranked Longhorns are loaded.

Texas is listed as a 6.5-point favorite as of Sunday over No. 9 Michigan when the two powerhouse programs meet next weekend in Ann Arbor.

Quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning both threw touchdown passes in the 52-0 win over the Rams. The UT offense rushed for 190 yards, and Ewers found 10 different receivers before the Longhorn band hit the field for halftime.

To hear Texas coach Steve Sarkisian tell it, the players were already focused on next week’s game against the defending national champions rather than patting themselves on the back.

“They didn’t want anybody just walking out of that locker room,” Sarkisian said. “They want to get themselves ready to go. And they know it’s a heck of a challenge. Hey, we’re going to play the national champions on the road at their place, a team that’s been in the College Football Playoff three years in a row and finally won it last year.

“Everyone’s talking about them losing 13 players that got drafted. Well, we lost 11, OK, and we think we’re pretty good,” Sarkisian added. “Well, I think Michigan’s probably sitting up there in Ann Arbor thinking they're pretty good too. So, it's going to be a heck of a challenge for us.”

Bettors had an easy time in Week 1. Texas was a 32.5-point favorite in the season opener. It was 31-0 by halftime, and the Horns cruised to a 52-0 finish. It’s a far cry from last year’s season opener. Texas was a 35.5-point favorite over Rice and won 37-10.

All total last season, the Longhorns were 6-5-1 against the spread during the regular season and 1-1 in the postseason.

It’s expected the Longhorns will be favored most of the season, except for possibly the Georgia game. The Oklahoma game is always a toss-up as the Red River rivalry game is historically one of the most unpredictable games on UT’s schedule.
