It won't take long for the Oklahoma Sooners offense to get to where it needs to be in 2024

The Oklahoma Sooners started their inaugural season as an SEC team with a win over the Temple Owls. It was fun, some moments were fun, and definitely some worries, but it was fine nonetheless. And let's be honest, it was mainly fun because, well, football is back, baby.

The Sooners struggled on third downs, as the starters went 0/9 in that area. They also struggled in the run game at the start of the match, and their offensive line saw their fair share of struggles as well, as they dealt with injuries. So, there is a lot to be proud of, but obviously, there is plenty of more work to be done.

The defense was great, and we will only see the offense follow suit eventually. That was Temple, one of the worst FBS programs in the country, so to see those struggles is worrisome, but as we hear from the coaches, the offense was vanilla on purpose, you never want to give too much away.

The good thing is, we are hearing these struggles won't last long at all. The Sooners have no option but to fix it, because, well, what offensive coordinator Seth Littrell said after the game.

“I’m not a very patient man… It’s our job to put these guys in a position to succeed. There’s no doubt in my mind we will continue to help them get better," Littrell told the media after a 51-3 win.

We've heard Jackson Arnold, the sophomore quarterback, kind of brush off some of that criticism because of the final score, but I think we all know that if they play this way when the SEC conference games come around, they won't win many of them if any of them. You just cannot go 0/9 on third down, and the deep passing game has to be there.

I think Brent Venables and the coaching staff on the Sooners have all the faith in the world in the not-so-very-patient man that is Seth Littrell.
