Christian McCaffrey follows Trent Williams in giving 49ers significant reason to enjoy their breakfast

It's been a while since Christian McCaffrey has been on the practice field for the San Francisco 49ers.

The reigning Offensive Player of the Year missed the entirety of the preseason after suffering a calf injury last month.

San Francisco's decision to exercise the utmost caution with McCaffrey's injury was no surprise given his immense value to the 49er offense.

But the Niners can now look forward to having the focal point of their attack back in the fold after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported McCaffrey will return to practice on Tuesday.

San Francisco does not open its 2024 season until Monday with a primetime game against the New York Jets, however, the team will hold a 'bonus practice' on Tuesday before starting their game week on Thursday.

McCaffrey's return is the cherry on top of what was already an excellent day for the 49ers, who are set to get arguably their most pivotal offensive player, left tackle Trent Williams, back at the facility.

After a lengthy contract holdout, the 49ers are Williams are set to finalize an agreement on a reworked deal for the 11-time Pro Bowler.

With the resolution of Williams' holdout following the satisfactory conclusion of the Brandon Aiyuk saga , Tuesday's practice will mark the first of the new league year in which the 49ers will have their entire starting offense available.

Last week, the 49ers were potentially facing the possibility of going into the season opener without Aiyuk and Williams. Now with their contract demands satisfied and McCaffrey back to full health, the most dominant offense in football last year has the pieces it needs to resume the juggernaut form it displayed in 2023.

With the Williams and McCaffrey news coming down before 7:00 a.m. on the West Coast, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch will each likely have a particularly enjoyable breakfast.
