ABBOTSFORD — A 29-year-old Abbotsford man has now been charged with stabbing three people, leaving one woman injured and two juveniles dead. The criminal complaint states that each child was stabbed more than a dozen times.

Victor M. Gomez Acosta, 303 E. Oak St., was charged Tuesday in Clark County Court with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide with a domestic abuse modifier. A bond hearing is set for 2 p.m. today.

Gomez Acosta is incarcerated in the Clark County Jail, Colby-Abbotsford Police Chief Alex Bowman wrote in a press release.

Bowman wrote that the Clark County Communications center received a 911 call at 1:38 a.m. July 5 "concerning a female stab victim.' Officers from two agencies responded to the scene.

According to the criminal complaint, the officer "observed that (the victim) had a stab wound on the upper left side of her back as well as wounds on her upper part of her right arm, the upper right abdomen, and a wound on her left arm."

"The adult female stab victim was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center for treatment of her stab injuries," Bowman wrote. "Gomez Acosta was found inside the residence where the incident occurred and was apprehended at the crime scene."

The woman told officers that her two daughters were still in the trailer. Officers found the children face-down in a bedroom, one on a bed and the other on the floor with her feet under the bed. Both were already deceased, as officers were unable to find a pulse.

"Child Victim 1 was found to have 20 stab wounds to her chest, back, neck, left hand and left arm, some of which appear to be defensive wounds," the criminal complaint reads. "Child Victim 2 was found to have approximately 16 stab wounds mainly on the left side of her chest, and one to the right neck area. Based on information and belief the cause of death for both Child Victim 1 and Child Victim 2 was the stab wounds."

The complaint does not indicate the ages of either child.

"Central EMS was on scene to provide care. Gomez Acosta was transported to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department where self-inflicted stab wounds were discovered," Bowman wrote.

It was later learned that Gomez Acosta had approximately eight stab wounds to his chest, the criminal complaint states.

Gomez Acosta was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. A motive for the stabbing has not been identified at this time. He was medically cleared and brought to the jail.

The identity of the juvenile victims will not be released, Bowman wrote. The identity of the adult victim will not be released at this time.

The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office are conducting the investigation. They are assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Wisconsin State Patrol, Clark County District Attorney’s Office, Clark County Coroner’s Office and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to the nature of this investigation, no other information will be released at this time, Bowman wrote.

Online court records show that Gomez Acosta was charged with OWI-second offense on June 17, stemming from a May 4 arrest. He is slated to be in court on Aug. 6 on that offense. He also was cited for speeding during that arrest.
