Exit ramps, frontage roads to close amid FM 1882 project

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Texas Department of Transportation will be continuing with the next phase of its FM 1882 project on Thursday.

TxDOT said beginning on Thursday, May 23, crews will be milling and paving the next portion of FM 1882, under the Interstate 20 overpass. The east and westbound I-20 exits at Exit 115 will be closed between 7am and 8pm.

The frontage roads at FM 1882 will closed, except to local traffic, for a short distance to the approach to the intersection as well.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, north and south, during this phase of the project.

Work is expected to last about three days with lane and ramp closures to reopen at the end of each day at 8pm.

This is part of a larger project that is expected to be completed by mid-November. The project aims to rework the existing roadway, improve the riding surface, and increase the safety of FM 1882 between Business Highway 20 and 0.1 miles west of US 385 in Ector County.

Motorists are encouraged to expect delays and use caution when driving in the area.
