Minor injuries reported following crash involving DPS vehicle

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was involved in a crash Thursday morning, now the department has released new details about the incident.

According to a DPS spokesperson, around 9:30 a.m. On August 1, a trooper was in route to investigate a call about another crash when he was involved in a collision. Investigators said the trooper was heading eastbound on W University and was approaching the intersection of FM 1936 with emergency lights and sirens activated. As the trooper entered the intersection, a pickup truck traveling northbound on FM 1936 struck the patrol unit.

Both the trooper and the driver of the truck were taken to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries. No other details have been released and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
