ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Consortium for School Networking awarded the Trusted Learning Environment Seal to the Ector County Independent School District on Tuesday, making ECISD the ninth Texas school district to be awarded with the recognition.

According to the CoSN website, the Seal is a national distinction awarded to school districts that implement rigorous privacy policies and practices to help protect student information. The TLE Seal Program requires school systems to implement high standards for student data privacy protections around five core areas: leadership, business, data security, professional development, and classroom.

“We applaud the work of Ector County Independent School District, which serves as yet another example of a district leveraging the CoSN TLE Seal program privacy framework to improve their student data privacy practices. We are delighted to see the ongoing growth of the program in Texas,” said Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN.

“The CoSN Trusted Learning Environment Seal is the result of three years of work by a team of dedicated ECISD staff. Online safety and the security of our student and staff information is our priority, and this work establishes the standard environment Seal,” said Kellie Wilks, Chief Technology Officer at Ector County ISD.

CoSN said the TLE Seal is the only privacy framework designed specifically for school systems. All TLE Seal recipients are required to demonstrate improvement through a reapplication process every two years.
