The Airbnb guest who refused to leave a Durham home more than a month ago has been evicted.Durham County Sheriff's Office served the Airbnb guest an eviction notice Wednesday morning.ABC11 Troubleshooter Diane Wilson broke this story in early June. 24 people arrested in Durham Police Department crime operation
Durham Police Department's Special Operations Division arrested 24 people over a week during a sting operation in different parts of the city.Police said the operation was approved in light of a recent outbreak of violent crime, including a drive-by shooting that killed a 2-year-old girl. Investigators targeted areas of McDougald Terrace, Cornwallis Road, and the Fayetteville Street corridor. Man drowns while swimming at Jordan Lake
Chatham County Sheriff's Office said a man drowned at Jordan Lake.The sheriff's office said Eduardo Martinez, 52, of Carrboro drowned while swimming at the lake with his family near the intersection of Martha's Chapel Road and Farrington Road.Deputies responded at 8:47 p.m. on Tuesday and recovered Martinez's body later that night.In addition to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, first responders included North Chatham Fire Department, FirstHealth Emergency Medical Services, Chatham County Emergency Management, and the Medical Examiner.With the upcoming holiday weekend, Sheriff Mike Roberson emphasized the importance of water safety and adherence to swimming regulations."As we approach the busy holiday weekend, we urge everyone to prioritize safety while enjoying the natural resources our county has to offer," he said."Swimming in designated areas of Jordan Lake and following safety guidelines can prevent such heartbreaking incidents. NC officers team with feds to locate missing children in Triangle: Operation We Will Find You 2
The U.S. Marshals Service announced they recovered 200 missing children as part of a nationwide investigation called Operation We Will Find You 2.Over six weeks in May and June, federal and local authorities teamed up in seven districts, including North Carolina's Eastern District.
